Non-English Keyboards and Wenlin 2.4 and 2.5

There is a mistake in the Wenlin 2.4 (Mac) and 2.5 (Windows) updates that affects use with some non-English-language keyboards. Specifically, it affects keyboards on which typing a slash character (/) requires holding down the Shift key (as in some European layouts).

The best solution is to go to the update page and download the free update to Wenlin 2.6.

If that's not convenient at the moment, the problem is not serious if you know the following solution:

Instead of typing slash (/) as a shortcut for the Convert command, type Ctrl+T (Windows) or Command+T (Macintosh).

The cause of this "bug" is actually a useful new "feature": sometimes you may want to convert only a single pinyin syllable, but if there are two or more syllables in a row and there is a matching entry in the dictionary, Wenlin converts them all at the same time. To force Wenlin to convert only one syllable, you can hold down the Shift key while choosing Convert from the Edit menu (or type Shift+Ctrl+T or Shift+Command+T). That's the new feature. The problem is, we implemented it simply by testing whether the Shift key was held down. We didn't realize that on some non-English keyboards, typing a slash (/) requires holding down the Shift key. The problem is fixed by the 2.6 update; if you need to keep using 2.4 or 2.5, please just use Ctrl+T or Command+T instead of slash (/).
