Important Announcement

Dear Wenlin/DOS Users,

After version 2.4, we are unlikely to continue developing Wenlin for DOS, since it appears that nearly all former DOS users now have Windows 95 or later. Development for DOS is becoming less and less practical. Instead, we will spend our efforts on more forward-looking projects, including, hopefully, a Linux version (wenlinux). Please let us know if you disagree or have any suggestions.

Wenlin 2.4 Update For DOS

The Wenlin 2.4 update for DOS is in a Self Extracting Archive file called WL24DSEA.EXE (329,156 bytes).

If you have not already installed Wenlin 2.0 or 2.1 on your computer's hard drive, you should do so before downloading the update file, so that there will be a Wenlin2 folder on your hard drive to contain the changed files. (To install Wenlin on your hard drive, run it from the CD-ROM and choose Install from the File menu.)

Assuming Wenlin 2.0 or later is already installed on your hard drive, you should quit Wenlin if it is running. Then click on the link below to download the update file. Your browser should give you the option of saving the file on your hard drive. Please PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION to the LOCATION where you save the file! You should save it in your Wenlin2 folder where Wenlin is already installed. Then run it by changing to the WENLIN2 directory and running WL24DSEA.EXE. These are the DOS commands, assuming that Wenlin is installed on your c: drive (substitute the drive letter if needed):

C:
CD \WENLIN2
WL24DSEA

The extraction program will replace the older version of WLDOS.EXE and five text files and one binary file. It will ask you whether it is okay to replace the older files. Enter a capital "A" to replace all the files. After successfully running it, you can delete the self-extracting archive file WL24DSEA.EXE.

I am already a licensed user of Wenlin 2.0 or later: download the DOS update for Wenlin 2.4.

Please send us an e-mail to let us know you've updated.
