IMPORTANT: this update requires OS X 10.2 or later.
The Wenlin 3.4.1 update for MacOS X is in a disk-image file named wenlin341.dmg (5,011,545 bytes).
If you have not already installed Wenlin 3.0 or later on your hard drive, do so before installing the update, so that there will be a Wenlin3 folder to contain the changed files.
Quit Wenlin if it is running. Then click on the link below to download wenlin341.dmg. Your browser may automatically save the file in some location such as the Desktop, or it may let you choose the the location in which to save it. You can save it in any convenient location. After downloading it, mount it by double-clicking on it. An icon named Update to Wenlin 3.4.1 OS X will appear on the Desktop.
IMPORTANT: If you are logged in as a different user from the user who originally installed Wenlin, updating may not work unless you do this: in the Finder, select the Wenlin3 folder (which is normally inside the Applications folder), and choose Get Info from the File menu. Under "Sharing and Permissions", click on the lock icon to enable making changes (you'll be prompted for an administrative password). Change the permission to "Read and Write" for all users. Click on the Action (gear) menu and choose "Apply to enclosed items" (see Apple documentation).
Double-click on Update to Wenlin 3.4.1 OS X, and drag two icons from it into the Wenlin3 folder on your hard drive (where 3.0 or later is already installed): Wenlin 3.4.1 OS X, and Wenlin 3.4 Update Files. Make sure to put both of them in the Wenlin3 folder.
Unmount Update to Wenlin 3.4.1 OS X by dragging it to the trash. You can also trash wenlin341.dmg (or store it somewhere as a backup). Trash the old application file Wenlin 3.0 OS X (or 3.1 etc.) and any aliases or Dock icons that point to it. The first time you run version 3.4.1, it will automatically move the files from the Wenlin 3.4 Update Files folder into their appropriate locations (in the Help, Text, and W3DB folders), and then it will delete the Wenlin 3.4 Update Files folder.
