Updates for Wenlin 2.x

March 21, 2003

For users of versions 2.0 or later, who haven't made up their minds (or saved up enough money) to upgrade to version 3, free updates are available to version 2.7 for MS-Windows, or 2.6 for Macintosh. 2.7 fixes a problem with the Search Files command; otherwise it is identical to 2.6. (Search Files works fine in 2.6 for Macintosh.) The latest version for DOS is 2.4.

What was new in version 2.6? (Click here to find out)

The files for updating to version 2.7 (Win), 2.6 (Mac), or 2.4 (DOS) are available for downloading only by currently licensed users of Wenlin 2.0 or later. They are not usable unless you have Wenlin 2.0 or later already installed on your computer. If you have not already installed Wenlin on your hard drive, you should do so before installing the update, so that there will be a Wenlin2 folder on your hard drive in which to put the update files. To install Wenlin 2.x on your hard drive, run it from the CD-ROM and choose Install from the File menu.

To obtain the essential files for updating, please choose your operating system: MS-Windows -- Macintosh -- DOS.

An additional, optional update file is also available. It was already included on the version 2.1 and 2.6 CD-ROM's. If you installed from the 2.1 or 2.6 CD-ROM, you don't need this file. If you are updating from 2.0, you might want it. It is large (1,504,944 bytes). It is only needed for displaying very rare characters in the bitmap font, so you might not want to bother with it. If you need both the updated font and the capabilities of the latest version, then you must download BOTH this "optional" file and the "essential" file accessed above. For the optional font update, please click here and save the file UNIHAN24.BIN in the BINARY folder, which is inside the WENLIN2.DB folder. Replace the existing file that has the same name.

Finally, if you are updating from 2.0, you can click here to fix two small errors in the Wenlin 2.0 Bible files. (They were already fixed in version 2.1.)
