April 2004; updated Spring 2007 -- we're still working on it, but very slowly. One of our approaches is to use Java for the GUI.
Wenlin currently runs "natively" only on Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh computers; for details see the System Requirements page.
Eventually, we intend to support GNU/Linux. Our version for Linux will inevitably be called Wenlinux (TM).
In the meantime, some Wenlin users have reported at least partial success in running Wenlin on Linux, using Windows emulation such as WINE. There is more information on this Running Wenlin on Linux page (by Beirne Konarski, August 2003).
Also, when running Wenlin on Wine, it has been suggested that the following will prevent some problems with stack limits:
Right-click on Wenlin icon for a context menu; select Properties. Click to select Application tab in properties panel. Add "ulimit -s unlimited; " to front of Command text field. Click OK button [closes Properties panel]. Click on icon to launch Wenlin.
